MWC 2025: Connecting the physical and digital worlds with AI and Cloud

Last week, Nscale attended the Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC) in not-so-sunny Barcelona - bad news for those chasing Spanish sunshine, but good news if you travelled from colder climates. Amidst the weather conditions, MWC 2025 welcomed attendees to see the latest technology and a focus on the future of AI and the infrastructure that supports it.

Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility Robotics, announced that robots have made their mark with a new humanoid robot employing the same technology that powers OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Databricks' chief AI officer, Naveen Rao, suggested that we require more intuitive interfaces, data unification, and customisable, contextualised responses to truly realise the potential of Generative AI. At the same time, Harman showcased a range of services powering the future of connected mobility.

Although we were surrounded by futuristic tech, this year's MWC focus was making AI viable at scale. Central to the discussions was solving the infrastructure puzzle that will shape AI’s trajectory and success in the coming decades.

AI takes centre stage

AI cemented its role as the core driver of innovation at MWC. From AI-powered assistants to leveraging it in network automation, AI was everywhere in everything. Yet, organisations still face significant hurdles, particularly around cost, latency, and control trade-offs.

Nscale’s strategic focus on AI infrastructure for our full-stack, sovereign, and sustainable AI cloud platform emphasises our role as the leading AI-focused hyperscaler to drive and validate AI innovation across various industries.

Infrastructure is imperative

For AI to be successful, we need scalable, interconnected infrastructure tailored explicitly for AI workloads. It is at the foundation and capability of organisations' cloud environments that will determine the true success of AI.

This is where you need robust GPU-powered infrastructure that provides scalable solutions and delivers performance at a cost-effective price.

The rise of Telco GPU cloud

Traditional infrastructure struggles to keep pace with AI-driven demands. Telecom providers are embracing AI by adopting shared, multi-tenant GPU cloud infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency and user experience. We’re seeing a shift in telco GPU clouds to provide GPU-intensive environments, merging advanced infrastructure and AI expertise into one.

Nscale has continuously supported and aligned with Telco providers to ensure they have the hardware and strategic insights necessary to leverage AI effectively, such as our partnership with Singtel.

Sustainability is no longer optional

Was it ever really optional? It is an industry-wide expectation and is critical for the future of infrastructure projects and AI. Building renewable-powered data centres that provide an energy-efficient vertical will allow organisations to align with their AI initiatives while prioritising sustainability.

Nscale’s Glomfjord AI data centre in the Arctic Circle is powered by 100% renewable energy, exemplifying our leadership in sustainable, high-performance computing.

Nscale has a 1.3 GW pipeline of greenfield sites across Europe and North America and expects to have 250 MW commissioned by Q4 2026, with the potential to expand to 1 GW+ scale by 2029.

The road ahead

MWC 2025 confirmed that AI’s future depends on sustainable infrastructure built for scale. As the market moves towards reliable, high-performance cloud solutions, Nscale is well-positioned to set the pace.
